2013 World Youth Day Rio Updates

With the approach of World Youth Day 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, here are local and international updates /links on the WYD festivities, most of them coming from the WYD Pinoy website.   Thanks to them.  Read their entire entries on their website.  I'm just linker, spreading the word.

Pope to hear confessions of 5 young people of different nationalities

"Pope Francis will hear the confessions five youths, three men and two women during his visit to the Vocations Fair in Quinta da Boa Vista, on the 26th of July. The young people, three Brazilians, one Venezuelan and one Italian, were surprised by the news on the day of Our Lady Help of Christians, May 24th." 



DESPITE PROTESTS, ARCHBISHOP ASSURES SAFETY AT WYD

"RIO DE JANEIRO (Via CNA)–The archbishop of Rio de Janeiro has reassured young people planning to attend World Youth Day that the protests occurring in various cities in Brazil will not affect the massive event.

"Archbishop Orani Joao Tempesta told Vatican Radio June 21 he has spoken with Brazilian intelligence officials who have guaranteed that World Youth Day will be a safe event."

PASIG BISHOP TO CELEBRATE SEND-OFF MASS FOR DIOCESAN WYD DELEGATES

"PASIG City—Pasig Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara will celebrate a send-off mass for the diocese’s official delegates to the 27th World Youth Day (WYD) celebration in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this coming July 2013."

PINOY DELEGATES TO JOIN 7TH ASIAN YOUTH GATHERING IN RIO DE JANEIRO

CUBAO FAITHFUL URGED TO SUPPORT DIOCESAN WYD CELEBRATION

CEBU YOUTH RAISE FUNDS FOR WYD DELEGATES THROUGH FILM SCREENING

"CEBU City—An Indie film that promotes child protection and family values had a special screening yesterday in this city to raise funds for the delegates of the Archdiocese of Cebu to the World Youth Day."

200+ PINOYS TO ATTEND WYD IN BRAZIL

"MANILA–Less than two months before the World Youth Day (WYD) takes place in Brazil, only 300,000 young individuals have registered to participate in the event, including some 200 pilgrims coming from the Philippines."

WYD REGISTRATION ENDING ON JUNE 20TH

"ROME (Via Zenit.org)–Every week the 'Official Fan Page of the 2013 Rio WYD' presents a new challenge to young people. On Saturday, June 1, it presented the “Challenge of Challenges”: to register or finalize one’s registration before midnight local time on June 20. If payment is made before this deadline, the individual or group doing so will be given a 5% discount. It is valid also for those using a credit card, international bank transfer or who live in Brazil and can use a “bank ticket” [boleto bancario]"
