IEC Update: Bishop Barron and Cardinal Tagle Delight IEC Attendees

From the IEC 2016 website

Bishop Barron was able to offer a wonderful meditation on the Eucharist as a Paschal Mystery to the attendees of the International Eucharistic Congress in Cebu, Philippines.  On the next day, Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle gave his catechesis on the Eucharist and the Dialogue among Cultures.  Cardinal Tagle reflected on the throw-away culture and the culture of the Eucharist as a convocation, or a people called together as a gift.  Every four years, the Catholic Church gathers priests, religious and lay people to study, reflect and promote the centrality of the Eucharist in the life of the Church.

Bishop Barron offered a thought to think over to those in the hall and to us listening, "If we get our Eucharistic theology wrong, the entire Christian project will go off the rail."   Lately, and I mean the past three decades, this aspect of the faith has been misunderstood by some in the pew in our country but delightfully adored by those who has grasped the magnanimity of what is in front of them all along for two thousand years.  Chapter 6 of John's gospel anchors it firmly, showing the real presence of Our Lord, there as bread and wine.

Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. (Verse 53 to 56)

It's great reading before you go to bed, when the clutter of the day has waned and you are able to reflect.

Additionally, on Thursday, the participants went thru a penitential rite with the sacrament of reconciliation available for everybody: bishops, priests, religious and lay people.

You could still get your fill of news and a deeper understanding of the faith thru the IEC website, Radio Veritas 846 on the AM band, and thru TV Maria and EWTN.  The IEC 2016 ends on Sunday, January 31.

Good post . This is a significant increase from the previous requirement of 2 kV. The iec update also includes new requirements for insulation and clearance of electrical equipment.
